In honor of Armed Forces Day and Armed Forces Week, we wanted to take a moment to thank and highlight a few of our local nonprofits that continue to support our brave men and women veterans and the military community.

Join us in showing your gratitude and support, and consider giving back to those who served; here are three great local nonprofits that you can support throughout this Armed Forces Week.

Leave No Veteran Behind

With a mission to address veteran student debt and unemployment, Leave No Veteran Behind helps to empower our veterans by providing them with jobs, funding for higher education and a greater sense of community. To date, Leave No Veteran Behind has provided over 810 transitional jobs, 10 scholarships, and $150k of funding to support local veterans.

Bunker Labs

Located at 1871, Bunker Labs is a nonprofit organization that helps military veterans start and grow their own businesses through educational programs, local networks and events. Since it’s inception, Bunker Labs has helped hundreds of aspiring veterans launch their own startups and grow their business. Having rapidly expanded in recent years, Bunker Labs currently provides entrepreneurial training for military veterans in major cities.

Code Platoon

Code Platoon is a nonprofit coding bootcamp that helps veterans transition into the civilian workforce with technical training and career placement. Code Platoon’s bootcamps are fully immersive programs that turn military veterans -- regardless of their coding background --  into professional software developers. What’s more, Coding Platoon also helps transitioning veterans with professional development, interview preparation, and career placement.

These are just three of the many nonprofits that support our veterans. And it doesn’t matter if you’re donating just five dollars or $500 -- every donation, big or small, can make a huge difference for our veterans and servicemembers.

The Techweek Gives campaign, powered by uBack, is working to raise $1 million and commit 10,000 volunteer hours in 90 days. To learn more, click here
